{Sharing the Love} Kitchen Musings…

Food often take’s centre stage around Valentine’s Day. It’s not all that surprising as more often than not it’s the ideal way to the heart you’re in pursuit of. Well it’s certainly the way to my heart!

So with Valentine’s Day just around the corner we’re spreading the love and sharing with you some ideas guaranteed to win hearts {and tastes buds} this month.

Restaurant Mark Greenaway: Scotland’s most expensive dessert


  • If you really want to impress someone special then Scotland’s most expensive dessert, available between February 7 – 13 at Edinburgh’s Restaurant Mark Greenaway, would certainly be a good starting point. Mark Greenaway has teamed up with Dom Perignon and IQ Chocolate to create a lavish twist on the humble rhubarb crumble. The beautifully created rhubarb and Champagne crumble, which will set you back £30, is made of a white chocolate sphere filled with rhubarb parfait, Dom Perignon jelly, edible 24ct gold leaf and Madagascar bourbon vanilla beans.
  • Crumble is the new cake according to one of the newest super food advocates on the block, Livia’s Crumble, ideal for those who are intolerant to wheat and dairy. And as the Chief Taster knows very well crumble is most definitely the way to my heart. Livia’s Crumble has taken what is a very British pudding and given it a nutritional makeover packed full of energising and nutritious ingredients. Choose from a range of flavour combiantions including mixed berries, coconut and goji crumble or banana, coconut and cacao crumble. And for those living in London they will deliver right to your door.
  • My other love {although on hold until the arrival of our little bundle in April} is gin and one of my favourite gin’s Edinburgh Gin has launched a limited Valentine edition, promising “love at first sip”.  Lovingly created with notes of chamomile, lemon balm and lemongrass combined with a burst of juniper and Scottish botanicals, it’s also been infused with macerated rose and hibiscus to give it a beautiful pink hue. What’s not to love!
  • She’s already published four very successful cook books, but the wonderfully creative and talented Rachel Khoo is set to reveal her fifth book Rachel Khoo’s Kitchen Notebook. Drawing inspiration from London’s diverse food scene and other foodie destinations, Rachel’s beautiful recipes will share her love of travel and food and her gorgeous illustrations are intertwined throughout the book. This is the perfect Valentine treat for those who love their cook books.
