{Coffee, Gin & Cereal} Kitchen Musings…

No, I don’t indulge in coffee, cereal AND gin all at once at breakfast time. However they are three of my guilty pleasures, which are also making headlines this month….

  • Tapping into Scotland’s growing café scene and love for coffee, those who can’t start their day without their first flat white and get a kick from an espresso will be delighted to hear the first Scottish Coffee Festival will take place at the Drygate Brewery on Saturday, November 29 from 11am – 6pm. As well as a platform for roasters and cafes, visitors will be able to learn about various roasts and how to make the perfect cup of coffee.
  • Gin lovers can also rejoice! Be sure to make room in your drinks cabinet for the latest addition to Edinburgh Gin’s ever-growing family. The Rhubarb and Ginger Liqueur is a warming autumnal gin, which captures a balance between ginger spice, sweet rhubarb and classic juniper notes, just nicely. Not only does it work well as a cocktail but due to its versatility it could be used in the kitchen to poach fruit and making crumbles with a twist!
  • It doesn’t take much to persuade me to jump on the tube and head to Brick Lane, especially on a Sunday when it’s ecelectic food market comes alive. And come the 10th of December I’ll have another excuse to travel across the river. If like me you occasionally enjoy indulging in cereal for lunch, dinner as well as breakfast then  the Cereal Killer Café  – the UK’s first cafe completely dedicated to boxes of breakfast cereal – is for you. Choose from a menu of 100 cereals from around the world and customise with 12 different varieties of milk and 20 different toppings.
