Kitchen Musings…

With Christmas fast approaching I’ve uncovered some gems for the domestic goddess, god or indeed the domestic diva in your life. This is my hand picked selection of stocking fillers and gift ideas to inspire you –  if like me you are still to do your Christmas shopping.  Or you could always just add them to your own wish list!

For the men and for fans of flavour, they will love Highland Park 12 Year Old, which boasts a honey sweetness with a hint of gentle smoke and a flavour that just keeps on delivering. This delicious single malt whisky also makes for the perfect post Christmas dinner tipple or why not match it with dessert. A small dram goes very well paired with a dark chocolate torte or a traditional Christmas pudding.

If there is someone in your life who is all about style over substance in the kitchen, Anthropologie currently has a gorgeous collection of eye catching aprons, a must for the glam hostess. She is guaranteed to look effortlessly stylish on Christmas day as she prepares the festive feast.

Not that I need any more tea sets in my life, but Joules, has recently launched a brand new line of kitchenware. Inspired by its love for colour and its country heritage this is without a doubt a very stylish way to enjoy tea and cake. So for those who love hosting afternoon tea parties this will be a guaranteed hit when unwrapped on Christmas morning.

Finally no foodie’s Christmas is complete without another cookery book to add to their collection, despite the fact their shelves are probably creaking under the weight of books which have never been opened! My pick of the crop this Christmas is Brilliant Bread by the delightful James Morton who has put together a great collection of delicious bread recipes.

For those who have a sweet tooth, then I can highly  recommend The Hummingbird Bakery Home Sweet Home book. A must for those who love butter cream icing, cupcakes and brownies.  And just in case you know of someone who is having withdrawal symptoms from the Great British Bake off then The Great British Bake Off Winter Kitchen is a must. Jam packed with wholesome sweet and savoury dishes, guaranteed to impress the toughest culinary judge.

Alternatively if you want to get ceavtive in the kitchen and make your own edible gifts to impress your friends and family then get your hands on a copy of Treats: Delicious Food Gifts to Make at Home by April Carter.
